Members

The Association des directeurs municipaux du Québec (ADMQ) is committed to supporting directors general so they can hone their knowledge and better serve their municipality.

SUPPORT TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS

Advisors are there to respond to requests from members who are experiencing technical problems or relationship difficulties. They will either try to provide information directly or refer people to specialized services.

ONLINE AND CLASSROOM TRAINING

A wide range of training sessions on various topics is offered throughout the year. Whether training is delivered online, in class, on-demand, and through webinars or videos, the ADMQ makes sure to prepare training sessions that meet the needs of its members and that reflect the latest developments. Training sessions are offered to ADMQ members at very competitive prices compared to other training programs on the market.

Our online qualification program to become a certified city manager (certification Directeur municipal agréé, or DMA) is unique to Quebec! It was developed specifically for city managers and is designed to standardize municipal management practices.

The ADMQ has developed a new customized training program, entirely free of charge for regular members, specifically designed for newly appointed city managers and clerk-treasurers who have fewer than three years of experience, as well as for the next generation of city managers. Held in the city of Québec over two days, the “ABC/DG” primer for DGs covers all aspects of the profession, allowing learners to walk away with an impressive array of tools and knowledge that will help them perform successfully in their positions.

NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

The ADMQ’s annual conference, the largest gathering of city managers in Quebec, has become a must-attend event. In addition to offering a wide range of training activities related to the triple function of director general, clerk and treasurer, it features a rich line-up of conferences and moments dedicated to networking. What a unique opportunity to share tips and tricks with colleagues!

In addition, each of the 17 ADMQ boards holds an annual conference in their respective area.

STANDARD WORKING DOCUMENTS

Together with its partners, the ADMQ produces various documents (technical and practical fact sheets, guides, resolution and by-law templates, work contracts, code of ethics) to provide its members with the tools they need to perform their duties. This gives them access to a comprehensive virtual library located in the Member Area. Members can access regularly updated documents, such as the calendar of city duties, a toolbox of information to learn everything there is to know about the way City Council meetings work and a table of procedures applicable to each category of municipal contract.

MUNICIPAL NEWS AND INFORMATION

The ADMQ keeps directors general informed of the latest developments in the municipal world through electronic newsletters (Mini-Scribe and Membres en direct) and the Scribe magazine, the authoritative source for all DGs in Quebec.

In addition, sporadic newsletters quickly provide the information DGs need regarding hot issues.

REPRESENTING YOUR INTERESTS

The ADMQ is committed to representing the interests of its members before government and municipal authorities, particularly regarding bills that impact the work of director generals.
